30 Years of Vocal Jazz DVD, new Jazz Singers CD

Alumna Sara Jacovino Wins The 2009 Charlie Parker Composition Prize


The $3,000 BMI Foundation annual Charlie Parker Jazz Composition Prize was awarded to UNT One O'Clock Lab Band Alum and talented composer Sara Jacovino on June 26 at the BMI Jazz Composer Workshop Showcase Concert. News from alumnus Paul Lamoureux

Paul Lamoureux was one of the first graduates of the UNT Master's program in Jazz Studies and played bari in the Three O'Clock as well as tenor in most other bands. After a a 20-year absence from the U.S., living in Toronto, he is back in the U.S. He recently won a job as the Assistant Bandleader of Cirque du Soleil's "O" show at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. One O'Clock Lab Band, Brad Leali to perform at World Saxophone Congress in Thailand

From the UNT press release: The One O'Clock Lab Band at the University of North Texas has been invited to perform at one of the world's largest gatherings of professional, amateur and student saxophonists – the 15th World Saxophone Congress.

This year's gathering will be held from July 7 to 12 (Tuesday to Sunday) at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. The One O'Clock Lab Band's performance at 7 p.m. July 11 (Saturday) will be the feature jazz band performance for the event. The band welcomes James Carter and UNT Prof. Brad Leali as guest soloists. The band leaves on July 8 (Wednesday). Read more.

UNT Jazz Septet at Crested Butte Music Festival
